How the leaderboards work

There are four boards, and they measure four different things. Only the Ladder is a rating — the rest are personal bests and progress.

⚔️ Ladder

Your rating from live multiplayer games. Everyone starts at 1200. Beat stronger players and it climbs faster; lose and it falls. You need 5 rated games before you appear here.

🎮 Live High Scores

Your single best score in one live multiplayer game. Unlike the ladder, this is a personal best rather than a rating, so it only ever goes up.

🏆 Journey Highscores

Your single best score in one Journey quiz — the solo mode on the home page.

🌍 Journey Progress

How much of the world you have mastered, averaged across all six continents. A country counts as mastered once you have answered correctly in every category for it.

Ladder tiers

Your tier follows your rating. It is a label, not a separate score.

What changes your rating

• Only live multiplayer games played in ranked mode. Practice rounds and solo quizzes never affect it.
• A game has to be a real contest to count: at least two ranked players, and at least five questions answered.
• Games against bots leave your rating alone. They are there to fill a room, not to judge you.
• The first 20 ranked games each day count. Anything past that is still played, just not rated.
• Harder modes are worth more: Sudden Death ×1.5, Speed Round ×1.25, Team ×1.15, Classic ×1.

Seasons

The ladder runs in seasons. When one ends, ratings are not wiped — part of your rating carries into the next season, so a strong player starts ahead of a new one without being untouchable. You play your 5 placement games again to rejoin the board.
